Former West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar took oath as the 14th Vice President of India. President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to him at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He was nominated by the BJP-led ruling NDA for the country’s second highest constitutional post. Dhankhar defeated Margaret Alva, the United Opposition’s candidate for the post of Vice President. Dhankhar got 528 votes out of total valid votes, while Alva scored 182 out of total valid ballots.
