Dr. S. Jaishankar was accorded a traditional ‘Maori’ welcome in New Zealand on 06 October. The ceremony marked the beginning of Jaishankar’s official engagements in New Zealand. He expressed his gratitude by sharing the video of the ceremony on his Twitter. A musical performance by Indian musicians was also given at the ceremony. Jaishankar also stressed on the importance of respecting each other’s customs and traditions in his latest tweet regarding the celebrations. The Union Minister is on a tour of Australia and New Zealand from 05 to 11 October to further strengthen ties with both the countries. “Honored to begin our official engagement with a traditional Māori reception in New Zealand.
