A hybrid terrorist associated with the banned terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) has been arrested from Handwara in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Monday. Based on specific inputs regarding the movement of a terrorist in the Rajwar area of ​​Handwara, the police established a special joint post near Sultanpora Bridge at Zachaldara Rajwar Handwara with the CRPF. During the checking of pedestrians and vehicles, a suspect on sighting the joint forces tried to hide his presence and flee from the spot, but was cleverly apprehended by the vigilante team.

He was identified as Ubaid Bashir Wani son Bashir Ahmed Wani resident of Maidan Pora Lolab Kupwara. Incriminating material, arms and ammunition along with 01 pistol magazine and 5 pistol rounds were recovered from him.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused is a hybrid terrorist of the banned terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed and is acting on the instructions of his Pakistani masters across the border. He also confessed that he was in the area to carry out the attack.

Accordingly, FIR has been registered under relevant sections of law at Thana Handwara and further investigation is on.
