Jat Reservation Issue Deprives BJP of Rights, Ahead of Elections as ‘Cheating’ Community in West UP

The issue of Jat reservation may once again heat up in western Uttar Pradesh amid protests by farmers. A two-zone meeting was held in Meerut on Tuesday on behalf of the Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti, in which the Prime Minister has been urged. Many districts of western UP are dominated by the Jat population. After the announcement of repeal of agricultural laws, the eyes of the Jats are now falling on the reservation.

Malik said: “With 125 assembly seats in western Uttar Pradesh, 15 in Uttarakhand and over 100 in Punjab, Jats are dominated. There are assembly elections in these three states next year and Jats have an important role in this. The votes of Jats will go to the party which gives them reservation. The Center had promised Jat reservation just before the 2017 assembly elections. Promises were made to the Jat community even before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

He said: “The Jats are feeling cheated. With his vote, BJP formed the government at the Center and then in Uttar Pradesh. But the Jats were not given their due. The committee has been demanding for a long time that Jats should be included in the OBC category at the central level. From time to time, the representatives of the government were also discussed, but the decision has not been taken yet.

District President of Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti Dharampal Balian said that for the last 15 years, the committee has been raising the demand for reservation prominently and now the time has come that the Jat community will have to unite and raise their voice for this demand. ,
