New Delhi: The Economic Offenses Wing of Delhi Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested Rita Dixit And Vijay Kant Dixitto, daughter and son-in-law of Jaypee Group founder and former chairman respectively JP GaurFor alleged misappropriation of Rs 12 crore. Investigators claimed that the couple started a mall project and took money from buyers on the pretext of giving them shops but they failed to fulfill their promise.
Police said both were directors of a company called JC World Hospitality Pvt Ltd and were residing in Greater Noida. “We have arrested him from his residence,” an officer said. According to the police, an investor Dhirendra Natho, along with a few others filed complaints against the company and its directors.
“Nath had booked two shops in a project named JC World Mall. It was launched by the accused in Noida in 2014. He [Nath] Additional Commissioner of Police (EOW) RK Singh said the company had paid Rs 1.75 crore in various installments.
Singh said the company had promised Nath that possession of the units would be handed over in 30 months from the date of allotment letter.
“Nath told us that the builder has not completed the construction work and no construction is taking place at the site for the last 18 months,” the official said. Nath also claimed that several meetings with the directors also went in vain.
“We found that the company, through its directors, cheated many complainants, buyers on the pretext of providing shops in its project,” the official said. He said there were more than 30 complainants.
During investigation, the Noida authority informed the police that the company had applied for approval of the building plan for the project in 2015, which was returned to them with certain objections and directed them to provide the relevant documents Was.
The official said, “The company did not respond within the stipulated period and hence, their application for approval of the building plan was rejected. It was also found that Rs 6 crore was given to the buyers by the company to an associate company ” said.
