“The Union Budget is historic for developed states, but it is disappointing for Bihar. Union Finance Minister @nsitharaman has disappointed all the residents of Bihar by ignoring their demand for special status to the state,” JD(U) National Parliamentary Board Chairman and former Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha Tweeted in Hindi soon after Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman finished her budget speech in Lok Sabha.

Kushwaha posted his tweet with the hashtag, “Desh ke pradhan, Bihar par de dhyan” (Chief of the country, please pay attention to Bihar).
Reacting to the Union Budget, JD(U) state president Umesh Kushwaha said, “Though the budget presented by Union Finance Minister N Sitharaman is ‘lauded’ as it presents a blueprint for the next 25 years, special It is our demand for category status. For Bihar is still alive.”
“Bihar deserves special category status from all angles. We have been raising this demand continuously in front of the central government. If Bihar gets special status or special economic package, then CM Nitish Kumar’s development works will accelerate,” Kushwaha told TOI.
The State President of JD(U) also informed that a new scheme- Pradhan Mantri North-East Vikas Yojana is being launched for the North Eastern States. An initial provision of Rs 1,500 crore is being made for this. Kushwaha said, “On the same lines, we would have been happy if Bihar had been given some special attention in the Union Budget.”
Party spokesperson and former MLC Ranbir Nandan said, ‘We had high hopes that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman would give some decision in this budget towards giving special status to Bihar. But, we are disappointed once again.”
Nandan also said that the Bihar government has given impetus to all development works under the able leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. If the state gets special category status, development projects will be implemented more effectively.
JD(U) state secretary Santosh Kushwaha said the denial of special status to Bihar in the Union Budget has disappointed all the people of Bihar. He said the JD(U) would continue to raise this demand with the Centre.
Earlier on Monday, the JD(U) again advocated special status for Bihar on the eve of the presentation of the Union Budget.
JD(U) national president Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh came out with a series of two tweets in which he sought special category status on the plea of ​​backwardness of the state.
