JDU’s national executive, council meeting today in Patna

Patna (Bihar) [India]Sep 4 (ANI): The National Executive Council meeting of Janata Dal-United (JDU) was held at the party office in Patna on Sunday.

The meeting was presided over by the party’s national president Rajiv Ranjan Singh.

The party official said, ‘The meeting of Rashtriya Janata Dal-United was held under the chairmanship of party’s national president Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Babu at Karpuri auditorium located in Bihar State JDU office.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also attended the meeting along with many party leaders.

Upendra Kushwaha, national president of the party’s parliamentary board, state presidents of various states, national office bearers, national council members, MPs, ministers and MLAs of the Bihar government were present.

Meanwhile, five MLAs of the Janata Dal (United), who merged with the ruling party BJP, today joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of party president JP Nadda in Delhi.

“When we broke away from the NDA, all our six Manipur MLAs came and met us. He assured us that he is with JD(U). We need to think about what is happening. They are breaking MLAs from parties, is this constitutional?,” CM Nitish Kumar said.

Kumar further said, “The opposition will be united for the 2024 elections.”

This was the first meeting of the National Council of the party since Chief Minister Nitish Kumar broke the alliance with BJP and joined hands with Tejashwi Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal, Congress and other parties to form the government of ‘Mahagathbandhan’ in Bihar.

In 2020, the BJP-JD(U) contested the elections in alliance and formed the government with Nitish Kumar being given the chief minister’s post.

In less than two years, Nitish Kumar changed his mind and took the surprising step of forging an alliance with the RJD and the Congress to form a ‘Mahagathbandhan’ government in Bihar. (ANI)
