Disney’s Oscar-winning “Encanto” co-writer and co-director Charis Castro will adapt Smith Unger’s novel.

She will also serve as showrunner and executive production with Alba and 3 Arts’ Michael Rotenberg and Ollie Obst.

The story centers on a working mother (Alba) who, on her way back home, meets a stranger on a train. As her life unravels and the betrayal is revealed, she questions whether we can ever get to know the people closest to us.

“I couldn’t put this book down. The moment I read this line, ‘If you want to keep a secret you must first hide it from yourself,’ I was shocked,” Alba said.

“This book is about trying to bury secrets and shame us until the truth is uncovered. I can’t think of a more exciting person to partner with on this project.” Cheris is so ridiculously talented and really gets every nuance under the skin of these characters and their web of lies,” she added.

“Confessions at 7:45” is Alba’s second collaboration with Netflix. She will be seen in the streamer’s upcoming action thriller “Trigger Warning” directed by Molly Suriya.
