Jet Airways to resume domestic services from early 2022

Jet Airways will resume domestic operations by the first quarter of 2022 and short-haul international flights by the last quarter of next year, the Jalan Colorrock consortium, the winning bidder for the grounded airline, said on Monday. Jet Airways’ first flight will be on the Delhi-Mumbai route, adding that the airline’s headquarters will now be in Delhi instead of Mumbai.

The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) in June this year approved the Jalan Colorrock consortium’s resolution plan for Jet Airways, two years after the once-story full-service carrier went into bankruptcy proceedings.

In a statement, Murari Lal Jalan, key member of Jalan Colorrock Consortium, said, “Jet Airways 2.0 aims to resume domestic operations by Q1-2022, and reduce international operations by Q3/Q4 2022.”

“We plan to have more than 50 aircraft in three years and over 100 aircraft in five years, which also fits perfectly with the short-term and long-term business plan of the consortium,” he said.

“The aircraft is being selected on the basis of competitive long-term leasing solutions. This is the first time in the history of aviation that an airline that has been stalled for more than two years is being revived and we look forward to being a part of this historic journey. doing,” she said.

The revival plan for Jet Airways is being implemented as approved by the NCLT and all creditors will be finalized as per the plan in the coming months, the consortium statement said.

The process to revive the grounded carrier is on track with the existing Air Operator Certificate (AOC) already in the process of revalidation.

According to the statement, the consortium is working closely with the relevant authorities and airport coordinators on slot allocation, required airport infrastructure and night parking.

“The newly appointed Captain Sudhir Gaur, Accountable Manager and Acting CEO along with the Jet 2.0 operations team, along with senior members of the Jalan CalRock consortium, visited major airports last month and had productive meetings with them,” it noted.

“We will begin with domestic operations on all narrow-body aircraft fleets we have leased from major global aircraft lessors who have approached us, and with whom we continue to engage,” said Captain Gaur.

“Jet Airways has already hired 150+ full time employees on its payroll and we want to induct another 1,000+ employees across categories in FY 2021-22,” he mentioned.

The airline was shut down in April 2019 due to lack of funds and high debt.
