Jharkhand: 7 killed, many injured as bus falls from bridge Ranchi News – Times of India

Ranchi: At least seven people were killed while several others were injured when a bus fell off a bridge in Hazaribagh district.
About 50 passengers were on the bus.
Superintendent of Police Manoj Ratan Chothe said that the accident took place when the bus coming from Giridih district to Ranchi broke the railing of a bridge and fell at a dry place in the Siwane river under Tatijharia police station area.
“Two passengers died on the spot, while five others were declared brought dead by doctors at Hazaribagh’s Sadar Hospital. The death toll may rise as some are seriously injured. We will send them to Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS). Are preparing to be sent to Ranchi for better treatment.”
The official said that if the bus had fallen into the water in the middle of the river, more damage could have been done.
“Some passengers are still trapped in the bus and we are trying to rescue them by making exit points with the help of gas cutters,” he said.
The SP said that a DSP rank officer and three SHO have been deployed on the spot to oversee the rescue operation.
