Oppo leads in Made in India smartphone shipments in Q2 2022: Counterpoint

According to the latest research by Counterpoint, Made in India smartphone shipments grew by 16 percent to reach 44 million units in Q2 2022. Oppo led the Made in India smartphone shipments with a 24 per cent share. Samsung’s number comes after Oppo’s lead. Domestic brand Lava led the Made in India feature phone segment with a 21 per cent share. The wearables segment was led by TWS with a contribution of 16 per cent, followed by neckbands and smartwatches.

Recently, Oppo announced the Vihaan initiative under which it plans to invest $60 million over the next five years to empower the local supply chain. Samsung has also expanded its manufacturing with premium segment smartphones, especially the Galaxy S series. Going forward, the upcoming festive season will further boost the Made in India shipments owing to the expected increase in local demand.”
