Jharkhand’s fraudster cheated revenue officer in Sivaganga

Police said that a government official working as PA to Collector (Agriculture) in Sivaganga Collectorate was duped of Rs 3 lakh allegedly in an online fraud.

After the complaint of Sharmila (54), Sivaganga District Cyber ​​Crime Police has registered a case.

The complainant is said to have received a WhatsApp message on his mobile phone a few days back. He had opened and clicked the link as instructed by Messenger. Not knowing that Rs 10000 was being misappropriated from her bank account, the lady officer had made the same mistake many times.

He complained about the fraud.

Preliminary interrogation by the police revealed that the sender of the message was residing in Jharkhand and the SIM address was shown as Bihar. The bank account of the fraudster in which the money was allegedly withdrawn was blocked for further investigation.

Another police officer said that the complainant disclosed that the DP of the fraudster had a picture of a top officer of Sivaganga district. So, he thought that it was some acquaintance within the district with whom he had some correspondence.

SP Senthil Kumar of Sivaganga district has appealed to the public not to entertain messages from unknown numbers. Refrain from sharing PIN numbers or clicking on any links suggested by unknown callers.
