J&K cleric booked after calling for beheading of Nupur Sharma over Prophet’s remarks

A case has been registered against a cleric from Jammu and Kashmir after he called for beheading Nupur Sharma over her remarks against Prophet Muhammad.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday registered a case against a local Muslim cleric in Doda district for his alleged hate remarks against suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma.

Muslim cleric had called for beheading of Nupur Sharma over her remarks against Prophet Muhammad during a TV debate.

In the video of the incident, Adil Ghafoor Ganai can be seen speaking from a mosque in Bhaderwah town and addressing the crowd below him.

Police said he also allegedly called Hindus “cow urine drinkers” and “dung eaters”.

An FIR has been lodged at Bhaderwah police station. The police also said that those who take the law into their own hands will not be spared.

Meanwhile, curfew has been imposed in the town as a precautionary measure in view of the incident.

Conflict

Recently in a TV debate on the ongoing Gyanvapi controversy, Nupur Sharma is believed to have said that certain things in Islamic religious books can be ridiculed by people. He said that Muslims are making fun of Hindu faith and it is being claimed that a fountain has been found inside the Shivling Masjid premises.

Cases have been registered against Nupur Sharma in Hyderabad, Pune and Mumbai for hurting religious sentiments.
