J&K: Four killed, 13 injured in fire at junk shop Jammu News – Times of India

Jammu: Four people, including a child, were burnt to death, while at least 13 others suffered severe burns Fire An LPG cylinder also exploded in a junk shop on Monday.
The incident took place in a lane opposite the Tourism Reception Center on Residency Road in Jammu, police said.
“Due to a short circuit, a massive fire broke out inside the premises of a scrap dealer on Monday evening, which later exploded an LPG cylinder on the Residency Road in the heart of the city.”
“The fire was caused by a suspected short circuit and later intensified after the LPG cylinder exploded inside the store,” Jammu Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Chandan Kohli said in a statement issued this evening.
“All the injured have been evacuated from the spot with the help of local people with the hectic efforts of police, fire and emergency services and all the injured are undergoing treatment at Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu. Rescue operation is on,” he said.
“The identity of the victims could not be immediately ascertained,” the police officer said.
The Fire and Emergency Services deployed seven fire tenders to douse the flames from the Scorpio shop.
Police reports said that 13 injured were admitted to GMC under MLC numbers 1189 to 1201 and four were brought dead.
Marjima Khatoon (23) was among the injured admitted to the hospital, he said; Anwar Hussain (53); Momina Khatoon (25); Menar-ul-Husain (3 years) son Mahju Din; Baby (07), Asrar-ul-Islam (19) son Anwar Hussain; Mahju Din (25) son Anwar Hussain; Sukitam (24) w/o Zahrullah Islam; Semirinissa (30) w/o Ishub r/o Assam; Suzu Bano (04) son Ishub (all residents of Assam); Ankur Ram alias Antu (53) son Krishna Lal resident Gole Gujral Jammu; Pappu (45) son Babu Lal resident of Bihar A/P Bhagwati Nagar and Neelma who got 80% burnt (35).
“The bodies of a woman, a child and two men have been sent to the mortuary for postmortem and identification,” police said.
Meanwhile, at least four policemen were injured when a cooking gas cylinder exploded inside Bhaderwah jail in Doda district. Jammu and KashmirPolice said.
Meanwhile, in another incident, four policemen were injured when a cooking gas cylinder exploded inside Bhaderwah Jail in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district.
Police said the cylinder caught fire and exploded in which four policemen were injured. “The injured have been treated and are being monitored,” the police said.
