JKBoSE conducts bi-annual board exams for class 12 students in winter zone Jammu

Officials said the bi-annual board exams of Class 12 students began in winter zone Jammu on Monday, requiring all students and invigilators to undergo a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) before being allowed entry into the examination centres, officials said. This was the first offline exam to be conducted by the JK Board of School Education Department (JKBOSE) in the winter zone of Jammu, which covers several districts including Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban.

The biennial examination of class 10 is going to start from Tuesday in the winter zone. While the 12th examination is scheduled to end on September 22, the matriculation examination of private students will be completed a day earlier. Schools in the snowy areas of Kashmir and parts of Jammu fall under the winter zone category, while the rest of the areas falling in the Jammu province fall under the summer zone.

In order to ensure the safety of students physically appearing for board exams for the first time in two years after the outbreak of coronavirus, the authorities decided to go for RATs of all students and invigilators before allowing entry in the examination hall. , Nodal Officer, Covid Control Room, Rana Arif told PTI. Arif said that a total of 126 students, including 52 girls, appeared in the first paper of education in various centers set up in government girls’ higher secondary and boys’ higher secondary schools and their RAT report came negative.

He said that a total of 2,274 private students are appearing in the Class 12 examinations in Doda district. Of these, 1,138 additional districts are enrolled in Bhaderwah. Similarly, 1,190 private students are taking part in the Class 10 biennial examination and 417 of them are in Bhaderwah, he said, adding that 96 examination centers have been set up in the district to ensure smooth conduct of examinations, including on social distancing. Last year the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic forced the suspension of physical classes and examinations in all schools in Jammu and Kashmir. However, studies and exams continued through virtual mode. After an aggressive vaccination drive and strict implementation of all SOPs, which resulted in the spread of the pandemic to a large extent, the administration allowed JKBOSE to conduct bi-annual examinations of class 10 and 12 students.

Nodal Officer (Examination) Arif Haleem Khateeb said that the Additional District Administration Bhaderwah has decided to conduct RAT of all the students besides ensuring proper conduct of COVID in the examination hall for the safety of the students and invigilators. “All the students cooperated and happily volunteered for the required RAT. We are happy to inform you that all the students came out negative in RAT and appeared in the exam in a safe environment without any stress or fear of getting infected.

The students also expressed happiness over the conduct of offline examination amidst all the necessary measures. “We are feeling great after returning to our school to appear physically in the examinations. We missed our school environment a lot and are grateful to the authorities for coming back to our institute,” said Sangeeta Bhagat, a class 12 student.
