JNTU – A professor gets a patent for his self-healing bacterial concrete

Three professors from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Anantapur received an Indian patent for the developed method for the preparation of bacterial concrete with self-healing capabilities.

Professor Vaishali G Ghorpade and Research Scholar Ramesh Vattikundla, led by Professor H. Sudarshan Rao, Professor of Civil Engineering, JNTU College of Engineering, Anantapur, have applied for the patent.

Shri H Sudarshan Rao said that the bacterial concrete prepared using the method exhibits better compressive strength as well as good self-healing of cracks and is capable of achieving better strength than normal concrete and concrete repaired with other techniques. has the capability.

pest Bacterial species from sewage habitats are employed to make concrete which is a mixture of cement and water and aggregates. The paste coats the surface of the aggregate.
