Pakistan captain Babar Azmi Silenced his critics, scoring a scintillating half-century to help his team reach the final of the ongoing T20 World Cup. Babar, who has been going through a rough patch since the Asia Cup in September, scored 53 off 42 balls as Pakistan beat New Zealand by seven wickets in the semi-final at the Sydney Cricket Ground. However, ahead of the semi-final, Babar and his opening partner, Mohammad Rizwan, who scored 57 off 42 against the Kiwis, faced criticism from several current and former Pakistani players for a weak patch.

During the post-match press conference, Babar gave a befitting reply to critics who were not happy with him and Rizwan’s performance.

“I don’t think there was anything like that. We were waiting for our time. This is cricket, you try to perform in every match. But the ups and downs keep going on. ” Even if we do good, we do that. You enjoy this victory, the people who are in Pakistan, and the crowd that was here, also enjoy them, and those who are sitting on TV, they also enjoy. (we were waiting) for our time. This is cricket and you try to do your best in every game, but there are ups and downs. We always try to give our best. Everyone criticizes, even if we do well. So, Pakistan fans come back home and those who were in the crowd here should celebrate this victory. Those who are sitting on television should do the same),” Babar said during the post-match press conference.

After batting, New Zealand were restricted to 152/4 by the Pakistan bowlers.
