Many Bollywood stars come to The Kapil Sharma Show to promote their films. Taapsee Pannu, Akshay Kumar, Ayushmann Khurrana and many others have watched the show time and again over the years. While appearances in comedy shows play an important role in the promotion of his films, John Abraham has now said that appearances on shows do not guarantee ticket sales. He also pointed out that with minimal marketing, if the content is good, viewers will flock to theaters, citing The Kashmir Files as an example.
John Abraham made this statement while talking about his upcoming release Attack. In the film, John plays India’s first super-soldier with an in-built AI system, much like Iron Man’s Jarvis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Prior to its release, John was busy promoting the film through various platforms when he mentioned The Kashmir Files.
“I haven’t seen the film, but I told him (Attack director Lakshya Raj Anand) that the best example of a film working without marketing before you just happened. And another film that was over-marketed…” he said in an interview with the YouTube channel Tried and Refused Productions, possibly referring to Akshay Kumar’s Bachchan Pandey. John said, “I am this guy (Lakshya Raj). Anand), he took it I am telling Kapil Sharma, ‘I want you to be on Kapil Sharma’. I love Kapil, he’s a nice guy, but that doesn’t translate into ticket sales.” John had recently appeared on the show.
Backed by JA Entertainment, Attack is the brainchild of John Abraham, whose screenplay is co-written by Sumit Batheja and Vishal Kapoor. The film also stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Rakul Preet Singh. The attack will hit theaters on April 1. The actor also revealed in the interview that the film is less than two hours long and he is struggling to get some extra shows as he is also the producer of the film.
