After Rajasthan Royals’ comprehensive 9-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders, opener Jos Buttler was found guilty of breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. Buttler was therefore fined 10 per cent of his match fee, confirmed a statement from the Indian Premier League. It is not entirely clear what action from Buttler earned him the penalty, but the decision is likely to come in the wake of the England opener’s reaction to being run out early in the game.

Mr Butler admitted a Level 1 offense under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the decision of the match referee is final and binding,” the IPL release read.

Buttler was run out after a mix-up with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who played a special innings to help the Royals win the game by nine wickets.

For the match, after Yuzvendra Chahal became the all-time leading wicket-taker, Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his sensational run in the IPL by scoring the fastest half-century in the tournament’s history as Rajasthan Royals registered a nine-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders Was. Their playoff is expected on Thursday.

Chahal became the IPL’s leading wicket-taker before completing a brilliant 4/25 as RR restricted KKR to a below-par 149/8 at the Eden Gardens on a day when KKR’s batsmen struggled to time the ball. The 21-year-old Jaiswal led the way by scoring the fastest half-century in IPL history in just 13 balls, breaking the previous records held by KL Rahul and Pat Cummins (14 balls each).

With the chase modest, Jaiswal remained two runs away from a century (98 off 47 balls), hitting 12 fours and five sixes as RR won in 13.1 overs.
