Joshimath: NRSC, IIRS will study through satellite images

The Uttarakhand government has asked the National Remote Sensing Center (NRSC), Hyderabad and the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Dehradun to study the Joshimath area through satellite images.

Apart from these, IIT-Roorkee, Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, National Institute of Hydrology Roorkee and Director CSIR, Central Building Research Institute Roorkee have also conducted a detailed survey and study. Joshimath area and will soon submit its report to the government.

The Chief Minister also asked the officials to relax the rules to speed up the relief work.

Along with the relief and rescue work being done in landslide-affected areas, instructions were also given to constitute a high-level coordination committee at the state and local level to monitor the development works.

Separately, as land subsidence continues in Joshimath area of ​​Chamoli district in Uttarakhand, the Prime Minister’s Office said on Sunday that it would hold a high-level meeting this afternoon.

“Dr PK Mishra, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, will hold a high-level review at the PMO this afternoon with the Cabinet Secretary and senior officials of the government and members of the National Disaster Management Authority,” said an official release.

According to the release, senior officials of Uttarakhand will also participate in the review through video conferencing.

The meeting is being held in view of the rifts that have developed in the area in the last few days.
