JP Nadda’s presidential term extended till June 2024; BJP eyeing big majority: Amit Shah

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party will contest the 2024 Lok Sabha elections under the leadership of JP Nadda, whose term as party president has been extended till June 2024.

Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday announced that the National Executive has unanimously re-appointed Nadda, whose three-year term was to end on January 20.

Shah, however, said that the party’s membership drive could not take place this year due to Covid. This is the reason why elections could not be held at various party levels, he said. It is noteworthy that the BJP had to face defeat in the assembly elections held last year in Himachal Pradesh, the home constituency of Nadda.

Shah said, “More than 120 different elections were contested during his presidency, out of which BJP won 77. The BJP’s strike rate has been highest in Bihar, or in Maharashtra where the NDA again formed the government, and in Bengal, the party. Covered the distance from 3 assembly seats to 77. A favorable environment has been created in the southern states including Tamil Nadu and Telangana. We scored a hat-trick in Goa and got a historic mandate in Gujarat last year.

“I am confident that under the leadership of Modi ji and Nadda ji, the BJP will win with an even bigger majority in 2024,” Shah said.

Shah also said that Nadda firmly led the party in the times of Covid, keeping in mind the party’s vision.service is dedication‘ Theory.

Shah also said that under Nadda’s leadership, 130,000 party booths were strengthened and many other service activities were carried out.

The National Executive meeting was held for two days – January 16-17 – at Delhi’s NDMC Convention Center to discuss the roadmap for the upcoming elections. There will be nine assembly elections in 2023 and Lok Sabha elections in 2024.

On the first day of the meeting, the party said it has resolved to win the assembly elections of all the nine states in 2023.
