Juhu: Mumbai: Three college students feared drowned at Juhu Beach. Mumbai News – Times of India

MUMBAI: Three college students were feared drowned when they plunged into the sea behind the JW Marriott Hotel in Juhu on Tuesday. The drowning was noticed by their friend, who was watching them play and repeatedly asked them to return, but it was too late when they were pulled over by the waves. Juhu Police said that the rescue operation is on.
Fire officials said a search operation was on to rescue them on Tuesday evening. The drowning was reported by lifeguard Manohar Shetty. “Four friends had come from Chembur Juhu Beach for the journey. Three of them, despite not knowing how to swim, jumped into the sea and went deep inside. It was low tide at the time of the incident but they were pulled by the waves,” said Balasaheb Tambe, senior inspector of Santacruz police.
The BMC said that the three people who drowned are Aman Singh (21), Kaustubh Ganesh Gupta (18) and Pratham Ganesh Gupta (16). “The incident took place at around 3:30 pm and was reported by lifeguards at around 4:45 pm. It happened behind JW Marriott Hotel on Juhu Tara Road in Santa Cruz (West). Search operation by fire brigade team is in progress. Navy’s Divers have also been mobilized.”
The drowning was designated as a Level 1 incident. This is the first drowning incident after the onset of monsoon this year.
