Kabul blast: At least two explosions took place on a busy road on Saturday morning near a Sikh gurdwara in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. The blast took place in the Kartar Parwan area of ​​Kabul. Karta Parwan is located in the Gurdwara area. India’s official spokesperson, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), tweeted in New Delhi, “We are deeply concerned by the news from Kabul about an attack on a holy Gurudwara in that city.” “We are monitoring the situation closely and await more information on further developments,” he said.

Security forces have cordoned off the area as a precaution. The explosion sent a column of thick smoke into the sky and created panic.

“We heard a huge explosion in the Kart-e-Parwan neighborhood around 6 a.m. local time. The explosion was followed by another explosion that happened about half an hour after the first one. Now the whole place is sealed,” said China’s official. The state-run Xinhua news agency quoted an eyewitness as saying.

Community leaders estimate that there are only 140 Sikhs left in the Taliban-ruled country, mostly in the eastern city of Jalalabad and the capital, Kabul.
