Kalyan: A married couple who fell between the platform and the train while boarding a moving train was rescued by an alert ticket checker and passengers. Welfare railway station.
The incident took place on Sunday morning at 9.12 am at platform number 4/5 of Kalyan railway station.
Jaspal Singh Rathore, CTI Kalyan said, “A married couple was trying to run Udyan Express The train (01301) and fell into the gap between the platform and the train”.
An alert on-duty TC, Ranjit Kumar, immediately rushed to help and asked the passengers inside the train to pull the chain. After a few seconds the train stopped. However, three to four coaches had passed. Later, Kumar pulled out the couple with the help of other passengers. Miraculously, the couple did not suffer any injuries.
Rathore said, “Since both of them had grabbed the stage, they survived without any injuries.”
“If the TC and other passengers at the station did not immediately reach for help and stop the train, it could have been fatal for the couple trapped inside the gap”, said another railway official, who did not wish to be named.
A senior railway TC of Central Railway said, “It has been found that many passengers do not check the coach position in the train in advance boarding train, due to which such incidents happen.”
