Kalyan: A Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable saved the life of a pregnant woman who fell between the platform and the footboard of the express train on Monday. Welfare Railway station in Thane district of Maharashtra.
The incident took place on platform number four. Kalyan Station The incident was caught on CCTV camera on Monday morning.
RPF officials said that a passenger named Chandresh was to board the train from Kalyan station along with his eight-month pregnant wife and son.
Around 6 in the morning, while the family waited Gorakhpur Express, Due to a technical problem in the signal system, another mail stopped on the platform.
Thinking of it as his train, Chandresh along with his family boarded the mail.
However, on questioning other passengers, they came to know that they had boarded the wrong train, but by then the express had started.
Chandresh, accompanied by his son, quickly jumped off the train and landed on the platform safely. But, his pregnant wife lost her balance and fell from the moving train.
As soon as RPF constable SR Khandekar saw her, he immediately rushed to her and dragged her off the train, saving her life.
While officials appreciated Khandekar’s efforts, other passengers in the vicinity pacified the woman, who was panicked after the incident.
