Kangna removed from all national awards, demands from Shiv Sena

The Shiv Sena said Ranaut’s comments exposed its “fake nationalism”.

The Shiv Sena on Saturday demanded that actress Kangana Ranaut be stripped of all her National Awards over her comments that what India achieved in 1947 was “bhikh” (begging) and that real freedom was achieved only in 2014 when Narendra Modi Became prime minister. which he referred to as “treason”.

An editorial in Shiv Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ said that the country will never tolerate such humiliation of freedom which has been met with blood, sweat, tears and sacrifice of countless Indians.

“The Modi government should take away all her national awards from Kangana,” the Shiv Sena said.

Hitting out at the BJP, the Shiv Sena said Ranaut’s comments exposed its “fake nationalism”.

The editorial said, “No one had insulted India’s freedom fighters like this before Kangana. Recently she was awarded the Padma Shri award, which was given to freedom fighters earlier. This is unfortunate. That Kangana was honored with the same award.”

Referring to Ranaut’s comments, the Sena said that the actress’ “current political ancestors” were nowhere to be found during the county’s process of freedom struggle.
