Karan Johar ‘overwhelmed with love’ as Dharma Movies Shershaah and Brahmastra at News18 Shosha Reel Awards

Karan Johar’s films Shershaah, Brahmastra and Jug Jugg Jeeyo won several awards at the News18 Shosha Reel Awards.

News18 Shosha Reel Awards recently felicitated notable films and directors for their contribution to showbiz over the past year and a half. Filmmaker Karan Johar, who attended the awards, expressed his gratitude as several films from his production house Dharma won multiple titles. While Karan himself accepted the Best Film award for Shershaah, Ayan Mukerji won the Best Director award for Brahmastra.

Stars from Dharma Productions films like Sidharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani, Bhumi Pednekar and Anil Kapoor, Jugjag Jeeyo and Govinda Naam Mera were also among the winners. Kiara Advani Declared ‘Star of the Year’ with four big releases, Shershaah, Jugjag Jeeyo, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Govinda Naam Mera. During this, Siddharth Malhotra Won Best Actor Award for Shershaah.

Taking to social media, an excited Karan Johar wrote, “Overwhelmed with love as @dharmamovies wins BIG at the #ShowshaReelAwards!!! Big hugs and love to all our teams, what a start to the year!!!♥️♥️♥️.”

Anil Kapoor and Manish Paul were awarded for Best Supporting Actor and Best Performance in a Comic Role respectively for Jugjag Jeeyo. Bhumi Pednekar won the Breakthrough Performance of the Year award. The award ceremony also marked the first appearance of Sidharth and Kiara as husband and wife.

Karan also showed us a glimpse of the outfit he wore for the awards. Dressed in head-to-toe black and glittery, she said, “I think sequins are my soul! Whenever I see sequins, I feel like singing “Lag Jaa Gale”… That’s all, the search ends!” This is my future eternal lover!”

News18 Shosha Reel Awards was star-studded. Many celebs were present in this special event. Anil Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Sidharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani, Bhumi Pednekar, Kriti Sanon, Neha Dhupia, Ramesh Sippy, Ayan Mukerji, Amit Trivedi, Divya Dutta, Vidya Balan, Babil and Shantanu Maheshwari, and many others were in attendance. The event was hosted by Manish Paul and took place at Taj Lands End, Bandra, Mumbai.
