Mangaluru: karavali festival will be celebrated in Tannirbavi Beach From December 23 to January 1, the district minister said V Sunil Kumar, He was addressing a preparatory meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Monday.
The minister discussed government restrictions for Karavali festival, private participation for sponsorship, cultural events and processions to be organized as part of the festival. “There will be more emphasis on the culture of the coastal region while celebrating the festival. Besides, it will give a boost to coastal tourism,” the minister said, and directed the officials to seek suggestions and cooperation from those who were part of the Karavali festival programs of previous years.
While Tannirbavi Beach will be the main venue of the festival, events will be held at Kadri Park and other places as well. He said that a food festival would be organized at Tannirbavi Beach.
Deputy Commissioner KV Rajendra Said that the district could not organize Karavali festival in the last two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He stressed that the achievers of the district should be given a chance to showcase their talents during the Mahotsav.
