Hubli: Nagappa Hadapada A secret desire cherished: to drive a police jeep. On Monday morning, 45-year-old escaped with a police jeep parked outside Anigeri police station. Twenty-four hours later, Nagappa was caught near Harap Byadgi while he was taking a nap in the vehicle.
Annigeri sub-inspector LK Julakatti said that when he realized that the police jeep parked in front of his station was missing, he scanned the CCTV footage and saw the accused running away with the vehicle. Soon the search for the accused was started.
On Tuesday morning, near Byadgi, about 50 km from Annigeri, passersby informed the police that a man in a police jeep was behaving in a suspicious manner. Byadgi police arrested the accused and confiscated the jeep.
Julakatti said, “When we caught him, he was sleeping in the jeep. During investigation, Nagappa told us that he was roaming around the police station for a few days and was paying attention to the jeep he wanted to drive. ” Nagappa told the police that he went around and had no plan in his mind as to how he wanted to return the vehicle to the police station. “My long-standing desire to drive a police jeep has been fulfilled, and I didn’t mean to harm anyone,” he told police.
A complaint has been lodged at Annageri police station.
