Karnataka Assembly Election Results 2023: BJP’s Udaya Garudachar wins from Chickpet

BJP’s Uday B Garudachar claimed victory in the Chickpet constituency in the Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023, defeating INC counterpart RV Devaraj by a margin of over 12,000 votes. On the other hand, the Congress party had fielded RV Devaraj. Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party had chosen Brijesh Kalappa as its candidate, while JD(S) has put forward Imran Pasha.

Chickpet is a constituency for the State Legislative Assembly/Vidhan Sabha district located in the Bengaluru region and Bengaluru Urban in Karnataka. The constituency is classified as general urban, indicating its urban population within the area.

Chickpet constituency has a total of 2,16,838 eligible voters, including general voters, NRI voters and service voters. Among general voters, 1,11,753 are male, 1,05,070 are female and 11 are voters of other categories.

The voter sex ratio in the constituency is 94.02 per cent, indicating a relatively balanced gender representation. Furthermore, the constituency has an estimated literacy rate of 87 percent, highlighting a significant level of education among the population.

Congress clean sweep in Karnataka elections 2023

In the Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023, the Congress party has performed brilliantly by winning 136 seats. The party has defeated the leading BJP with a huge margin in 224 assembly seats. According to the Election Commission, the party has won 122 seats and is leading in 14 seats.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated the Congress for the victory in the Karnataka assembly elections and wished the party better efforts to fulfill the aspirations of the people.

“Congratulations on the victory of the Congress party in the Karnataka Assembly elections. My best wishes for fulfilling the aspirations of the people.” PM Narendra Modi tweeted and said,

At the same time, BJP had won 56 seats and was ahead in eight seats. JD(S) has won 18 seats and is leading in two seats. JD(S) has won 17 seats and is leading in three. Independents have won two seats while Kalyana Rajya Pragati Paksha and Sarvodaya Karnataka Paksha have won one seat each.

Elections were held in the southern state on May 10 and the polling percentage was 72.68 per cent. The Congress maintained its lead since morning when the counting of votes for the assembly seats began in the hotly contested election.
