The BJP claims that Tipu Sultan was assassinated by Uri and Nanje Gowda, two chieftains belonging to the Vokkaliga community. BJP minister Muniratna Naidu said that he had approached KFCC to make a film on it.

Ahead of the Karnataka elections, another issue related to Tipu Sultan is set to rock the state. The ruling BJP has claimed that they are in talks with the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) to make a film on the killers of Tipu Sultan.

The party claims that Tipu Sultan was assassinated by Uri and Nanje Gowda, two chieftains belonging to the Vokkaliga community. BJP minister Muniratna Naidu said that he had approached KFCC to make a film on it.

BJP minister and BJP MLA both have a production house registered with KFCC and they are making films under the banner of their production house.

Meanwhile, High Minister Ashwath Narayan Education Will write the script of the film.

Contrary to reports that Tipu Sultan, the ruler of Mysore, was killed by the British, the BJP claims that he was killed by two Vokkaliga chieftains.

Politics on the film on Tipu’s ‘killers’

After the announcement of the film, JDS hit out at BJP’s claims. Former Chief Minister and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy on Sunday cautioned against the serious implications of the BJP’s claims, saying it would hamper relations between the Vokkaligas and the Muslim community in the poll-bound state.

“There is no point in creating imaginary aspects or imaginary characters. I urge them not to create a situation where one community looks at another with suspicion. BJP lacks ethics and cannot run the government or talk about development works. They are taking this issue forward, but they need to know that they will not get anything out of it.

Karnataka has become a laboratory for the BJP. It is bringing disharmony between castes and communities and politicizing sensitive issues,” said the former CM.

Munirathna Naidu responded to HDK’s statement and claimed that “when the truth finally comes out, they cannot tolerate it.”

“Ashoka and Ashwath Narayan have clearly stated that Uri Gowda and Nanje Gowda killed Tipu. I don’t understand why Kumaraswamy still has doubts. You cannot distort history. Ashok and Narayan have done their research. Till now they tried to hide this truth and now the truth has come out.

Meanwhile, the youth wing of the Vokkaliga community has written to KFCC, requesting them to reconsider the film’s pitch. He claimed that the film would create disharmony between Vokkaligas and Muslims in Karnataka ahead of the elections.
