CM stresses on the need to start ‘Technical Schools’ in Karnataka to promote technical education

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday stressed the need to start ‘tech schools’ in the state to promote technical education.

During a video conference, the Chief Minister said, “There used to be a technology school in Hubli only in 1960 which was later closed down. But, technology schools need to consider the fact that the perception capacity in childhood will be high. ” Virtually inaugurating the ‘Innovation and Impact’ program organized by the Department of Electronics, IT/BT and S&T under the ‘Beyond Bengaluru’ initiative.

Shri Bommai said that steps would be taken to promote the development of new industries in Hubballi region of Karnataka.

He also stressed on upgrading Atal Bihari Vajpayee Tinkering Labs.

He said that polytechnic colleges would also be upgraded on the lines of 150 industrial training institutes in the state.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister of IT/BT CN Ashwath Narayan said that Center of Excellence (CoE) for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Date Engineering will be set up soon in Hubli, Karnataka.

The National Policy on Education (NEP-2020) aspires to prepare the students according to the global technological developments, and accordingly, coding will be taught to the students at the school level itself.

The minister explained, “The government has introduced effective policies to promote innovative technologies and the duration of internship has been increased from three weeks to 30 weeks. Students will also be given an opportunity to undergo internship abroad.”
