The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) on Friday announced that students wearing hijab will not be allowed to enter the examination hall to take the Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to professional courses.

The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) on Friday announced that students wearing hijab will not be allowed to enter the examination hall to take the Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to professional courses.

Students must remove the hijab before entering the examination hall. The KEA has also clarified that no clothing or attire symbolizing religion is allowed.

The CET exam will be conducted on the lines of SSLC (10th class) and II PUC exam. CET will be conducted on June 16, 17 and 18. The students have been asked to attend the CET with the respective uniform.

In the backdrop of allegations of rampant corrupt practices in the entrance examinations for the posts of Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) and Associate Professor, the authorities have decided to ensure fair conduct of the examinations.

Students appearing in CET are not allowed to wear ‘mangal sutras’, nose rings, earrings, gold chains, bangles and other gold ornaments. Students have also been asked not to bring watches, calculators and any electronic devices.

The exam will be conducted on the lines of NEET exam and jammers and metal detectors have been installed in the exam hall. Around 2.11 lakh students-1.4 lakh boys and 1.7 lakh girls have enrolled for the CET exam
