Belagavi: effigy of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma found hanging on fort road Belagavi on Friday.
Sharma was recently suspended from the party after making derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad during a TV debate. His remarks made the central government stand at a time when Islamic countries around the world started speaking out against it.
BJP sacked Sharma from the post of spokesperson. However, there are protests by Muslim organizations who want to arrest him.
BJP councilor Shankar Patil (ward number 7) informed the police, who removed the effigy.
Pro-Hindutva organizations have demanded the arrest of the perpetrators of this incident.
If they wanted, they could protest or go to court. But such an act against a woman is shameful and dangerous for the society. Pro-Hindutva organizations said that the police should take strict action against them.
DCP Ravindra Gadadi said, “We registered a case taking suo motu cognizance and formed a team to nab the miscreants.”
