Questioning the Congress for not opening a central ministry for the development of the fisheries sector during its tenure at the Centre, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said it is the BJP government which has created a separate fisheries ministry to promote the blue economy. .

Addressing an election rally of the BJP in Mulki, Shri Modi said that the Congress kept fishermen and the fisheries sector in the lurch for a long time. “The Delhi government (referring to the Congress) did not see anything. But the Modi government looked into this (the potential of the fisheries sector).

Shri Modi said that the focus on reforming the blue economy in the last nine years has resulted in an increase in fish production, which was now 120 lakh tonnes. During Congress rule, it was 60 lakh tonnes, he claimed, adding that the double engine BJP government at the Center and in the state has given a new impetus to the development of the fisheries sector.

“The development of the region is nothing but the development of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts,” he said. It is necessary to have a stable BJP government in the state to maintain the development of fisheries sector and fishermen.

Talking about Karnataka’s progress, Shri Modi said that Karnataka’s private companies are contributing immensely to the development of the space sector. He said Karnataka has the third largest start-up ecosystem, with a good number of unicorns, which are start-ups that have attracted investments of over Rs 800 crore.

He said that the double engine government is creating a new wave of innovation and helping the youth realize their dreams. “The new voter should realize that his vote is not only for the future of Karnataka but also for your own future. By voting for an unstable government, the future of the youth will be unstable.

The double engine government is working to make Karnataka number one in many fields. “Both the districts, which are known to be toppers in examinations, know the value of being at the top,” he added.

Earlier, as soon as Mr. Modi began his 50-minute-long speech, the audience raised their voices saying that they did not need anyone to translate his speech. Pausing for a minute, Mr Modi said, Janata Janardhan’s order on head eyes, You are my remote control. I will follow your instructions”.
