Karnataka to convert 35,000 buses to electric vehicles by 2030: State Transport Minister

Karnataka is also planning to launch an all-electric fleet in the state by the end of this decade, following the footsteps of Delhi and Maharashtra, state transport minister B Sriramulu told the assembly on Wednesday. Karnataka Transport Minister B Sriramulu, during his response in the Assembly on Wednesday, ensured that all 35,000 buses in the state would be converted into buses. electric vehicles by 2030. As per the information given by the minister, BMTC is currently operating 90 electric buses from December 2021 onwards.

According to a PTI report, the minister also highlighted the rising prices of diesel. He said that Rs 1 crore is spent on diesel buses. 68.53 per km, while contractual electric buses cost Rs. 64.67 per km.

Under the smart city project, the state is operating 90 electric buses for 12 years from December 2021, while the state has commissioned 300 electric buses under the Central Government’s Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid and) Electric Vehicles – FAME II scheme.
