Here’s what the Prime Minister said in his address:
Kashi has always been different. Even though it saw destruction by someone like Aurangzeb, it also saw the valor of leaders like Shivaji and Ahilya Bai Holkar.
Today, I also express my gratitude to every laborer brother and sister, whose sweat has been shed in the construction of this grand complex.
– New history is being made; We are lucky to have seen it.
Kashi is indestructible. There is only one government in Kashi, that is Damru’s government in their hands.
-The Kashi Vishwanath temple complex is now spread over five lakh square feet from the earlier 3000 square feet; It can accommodate 50k-75k devotees.
If any Salar Masood roams here, then brave warriors like King Suheldev make him feel the power of our unity.
– Will be proud to be here; It is the amalgamation of the old and the new.
Here are 10 important things related to this project…
With a 75-metre-wide corridor, the ambitious project worth over Rs 900 crore will connect the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and the Ganges River.

The building will provide various facilities to the pilgrims visiting the temple, including Passenger Facilitation CenterTourist Facilitation Centre, Vedic Center, Mumukshu Bhawan, Bhogshala, City Museum, Viewing Gallery, Food Court, etc.
Mega Corridor, whose foundation stone was laid PM Modi In 2019, connects the main temple to Lalita Ghat. The grand entrance gates and ornamental arches have been built in the heritage architectural style in the four directions, facing the ancient temple at its core.
The project involved the purchase and acquisition of over 300 properties around the temple. Around 1,400 shopkeepers, tenants and landlords were amicably rehabilitated to pave the way for the construction. About Rs 450 crore was spent on the purchase of buildings.
During the demolition of buildings to pave the way for the project in 2018, more than 40 ancient temples were found buried under layers of concrete and plaster. Now they are being conserved and made a part of the project.
The project is now spread over a vast area of about five lakh square feet whereas earlier the premises were limited to around 3,000 square feet.
– Coincidence or not, PM Modi will dedicate the newly developed Kashi Vishwanath Dham to the people on December 13 – a ‘Somavar’ (Monday) and considered to be Lord Shiva’s favorite day.
