Prime Minister’s reaction Narendra Modi’s call to keep the tricolor as a display picture On social media, former chief minister and Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti changed her display picture, but only to put up the flag of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state. The law giving a separate flag to Jammu and Kashmir was repealed by the Center on August 5, 2019, along with other special status laws.

You may have taken away our flag from us, but cannot erase it from our collective conscience,” Ms Mufti said in a tweet.
Kashmiri Pandit leader Sandeep Mawa, who is leading the Jammu and Kashmir Reconciliation Front at the gate of Hurriyat office in Rajbagh area of Srinagar, hoisted the tricolor in the heart of the city. However, security personnel were sent to the spot after unidentified people removed the flags.
Special skits, street shows and rehearsals of the national anthem are being organized in schools, colleges and offices of the Valley.
Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Arts, Culture and Languages (JKAACL), Department of Education and Directorate of Youth Services and Sports organized programs for tricolor in every house A government spokesperson said, “This campaign is not only a symbol of personal association with the tricolor, but also of our commitment towards nation building.”
On Mr Modi’s call, several top police officers including Station House Officers, Deputy Commissioners changed their DPs to the tricolour.
Officials said that special instructions were passed for making videos of tricolor hoisting at government buildings and police stations in Jammu and Kashmir for social media platforms.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Dilbag Singh on Wednesday reviewed the overall security scenario and arrangements in connection with the upcoming Independence Day and the 10th Muharram-ul-Haram celebrations.
A police spokesman said that the national campaign, tricolor in every houseIt was also discussed during the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, DGP Singh stressed on taking extra vigil for the upcoming 10th Muharram celebrations and Independence Day celebrations. He has directed to increase patrolling, domination and search operations in the area to ensure that anti-peace elements are not given any chance to create disturbance.
He stressed on maintaining vigil along the twin cities boundaries and on the National Highway.
Referring to Mufti and Abdullah, BJP general secretary in Jammu and Kashmir and in-charge of Kashmir division Sunil Sharma said that the tricolor rallies organized by the party are a message to both the families that Kashmir is not their fiefdom. “The people of Kashmir, whether they are young or old, are patriotic,” he said.
