KBC Lottery Scam: You got a call claiming to have won ₹25 lakh? government says do it

In a recent lottery scam, fraudsters are now making phone calls and sending e-mails, messages tricking recipients into believing they have won. 25,00,000. And in such cases, do not share your personal information on such calls, mails and messages, the government said.

In this type of scam where the sender is usually in the form of an email requesting help in facilitating the transfer of a substantial amount, as directed by the Delhi Police. In return, the sender offers a commission. The scammers then request that money be sent to pay for some of the costs associated with the transfer.

Upon receipt of the payment, the fraudster disappears immediately.

What are the preventive measures:

1. Never answer fake lottery winning calls/sms/emails

2. Have you received any SMS or email about transferring money to your account? This is a scam. Do not reply

3. Have a Proper Spam Filter in Your Email Account

4. Follow the rule of thumb: Never transfer funds to unknown persons or entities in anticipation of high returns. it’s never gonna happen

How to make a complaint:

1. Collect bank statement of last six months from the concerned bank.

2. Make a copy of the SMS received regarding the said transaction.

3. Copy of your ID proof and address proof as shown in the bank records.

4. File a complaint with your nearest police station explaining the entire incident along with the above documents.
