KCR’s party won the Telangana elections, defeating the BJP candidate by 10,000 votes.

KCR’s party TRS has won the Munugode by-election in Telangana

Hyderabad:

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s party TRS has won the Munugode by-election in Telangana by over 10,000 votes. TRS candidate K Prabhakar Reddy had to face tough competition from BJP’s K Rajagopal Reddy.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), recently renamed as Bharat Rashtra Samithi, held public meetings with the chief minister, or KCR, and deployed its entire team of ministers and legislators to ensure victory.

TRS candidate K Prabhakar Reddy took a big lead to eventually be declared the winner. BJP candidate K Rajagopal Reddy was earlier with the Congress. After leaving the Congress and joining the BJP, the by-election had to be held.

Sri Reddy’s defeat will be a humiliating turning point for him.

Both TRS and BJP spent heavily in campaigning before Munugode by-election.

TRS supporters and workers joined the celebrations at the party headquarters in Hyderabad. In the by-elections held on November 3, more than 93 percent voter turnout was recorded.

For KCR, the Munugode by-poll was a battle of prestige as the BJP’s victory would have indicated a crack in the TRS’ defensive line, through which the BJP would have penetrated and worked to expand its presence.
