Kejriwal launches ‘Delhi Ki Yogashala’ to help residents of Delhi practice yoga under trained teachers

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday launched the “Delhi ki Yogashala” programme, which aims to help residents of the city to practice yoga regularly under the guidance of trained teachers.

A mobile phone number was launched by the Chief Minister on which people can give missed calls and get guidance of yoga teachers. A website – dillikiyogshala.com – was also launched on the occasion.

“People in groups of 25 can give a missed call to this number and the Delhi government will provide them with teachers. They will need to identify a place like a park or community hall to practice yoga,” Kejriwal said at an event at the Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University (DPSRU). “Delhi ki Yogashala” program with 400 teachers from January At least 20,000 people trained by the DPSRU and under his supervision are expected to start practicing yoga, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader said.

The Delhi government earlier this year conceptualized free yoga classes for residents of the city and allocated Rs 25 crore for it in the 2021-22 budget. Kejriwal expressed hope that like his government’s other initiatives such as free water and electricity and mohalla clinics, the “Yogshala of Delhi” program will also be adopted by other states.
