In Kozhikode, a BJP district secretary and others were booked on Wednesday for threatening to kill a circle inspector of police during a protest march towards the Municipal Commissioner’s office.

The protest was against the police action on a BJP worker who was trying to show a black flag to the Chief Minister of Kerala. The BJP alleged that the police thrashed their party worker.

“Dear Jijeesh (CI), You have hit our worker. You are protected by your uniform, but if it had been otherwise within hours of our worker being attacked, your bodies would have been on the streets. In Kannur, Kozhikode, Thrissur Central Jails, many of our workers are serving life sentences and they did not get this sentence for plucking mangoes. It would be better if the police remember this.

Renesh and others, who took part in the protest, have been booked under the IPC related to unlawful assembly, rioting, endangering or obstructing a public way or line of navigation, and criminal intimidation.

Opposition Congress and BJP are protesting in Kerala against the tax announced in the state budget.
