Thiruvananthapuram:

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has condemned the statement of Bishop Joseph Kallarangat in which he said that youth are falling prey to it.Love and Narcotics Jihad“, and added that those in responsible positions should be vigilant and should not create religious divisions in the society.

Addressing the press conference, Mr. Vijayan said, “Pal Bishop is an influential and religious scholar. We are hearing the term “Narcotic Jihad” for the first time. The drug problem does not affect only one particular religion. This society As a whole. We are concerned about that.”

“We are strengthening legal action to stop it. Narcotics don’t have the color of religion, it’s anti-social. It’s not clear what he meant, under what circumstances he said this. Those in responsible positions One should be careful. To create a religious divide in the society,” Mr. Vijayan said.

AA Rahim, secretary of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), Kerala State Committee, also condemned the statement and said, “The bishop made an unfortunate statement. Those holding responsible positions should be treated as such without the support of facts.” Responsible statement should not be issued and clear information. This is not suitable for a civilized society like Kerala. It will destroy the tolerance and goodness of our community. More such statements should not come. DYFI totally disagree with that statement “

Earlier today, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president PT Thomas said the bishop’s statement would adversely affect the social fabric of the state.

Earlier, on 9 September, while addressing devotees at a church in Pala, Bishop Kallarangat alleged that young girls in Kerala were becoming victims of rampant “love and narcotic jihad” and said that these tactics were not being used. It is being done to destroy the Muslims.

They have realized that it is not easy to take up arms and destroy others in a democratic country like India and have used various tactics to target non-Muslims. In the eyes of jihadists, non-Muslims should be destroyed. Planned and that includes love jihad and narcotics jihad,” Bishop had said.

Bishop Kallarangat also claimed that the increase in drug sales is sufficient evidence of “narcotics jihad” where the life of a non-Muslim youth is being destroyed under the influence of drugs.
