Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan returned to the state capital early Tuesday after completing his second stage of treatment at Mayo Clinic in the US

Mr Vijayan landed at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport from Dubai at 3.30 am, accompanied by his wife Kamala and a personal assistant to the chief minister.

Several issues, including disbursement of salaries to the striking employees of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), await Mr. Vijayan’s attention. He is also likely to review the financial and power position of the state.

Campaigning for the Thrikkakara assembly elections will attract the attention of the chief minister ahead of the elections scheduled for May 31.

He will also inaugurate the Left Democratic Front (LDF) election convention in Ernakulam on May 12.

Mr Vijayan will chair a personal meeting of the cabinet on Wednesday. The agenda reportedly includes hike in fuel and cooking gas prices and measures to combat inflation.

Mr. Vijayan ruled remotely from the US through a state-of-the-art e-file management system. The Chief Minister had also received his daily briefs including that of the police.
