A day after Kerala’s Catholic Church bishop raised a controversy that Christian girls were becoming victims of rampant “love and drug jihad” in the state, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said those in responsible positions should not create religious divisions in the society. Must be cautious.

Speaking on the matter, Kerala CM said, “Pal Bishop is influential and religious scholar. We are hearing the word ‘Narcotic Jihad’ for the first time. The drug problem does not affect only a particular religion, it affects the society. Affects as a whole. We are concerned about it.”

The chief minister continued and said, “We are strengthening legal action. Narcotics don’t have the color of religion, its color is anti-social. It’s not clear what he meant, not understanding under what circumstances he said so.” Responsible people should be careful of positions so as not to create religious divisions in the society.”

Bishop said on Thursday that wherever weapons cannot be used, extremists are using such methods to destroy youth of other religions.

Muslim organizations opposed the statement of Pala Bishop Mar Joseph Kallarangat, alleging that it was meant to create communal division in Kerala society.

Addressing devotees during a church function at Kuravilangad in this district, the bishop said that as part of “love jihad”, non-Muslim girls, especially those belonging to the Christian community, were largely trying to ensnare him in love. and being converted after exploiting them. Referring to the recent statements of former state police chief Loknath Behera, he said Kerala has become a recruitment hub for terrorists and a sleeper cell of extremist groups is present in the southern state.

Alleging that the jihadis were trained to trap and brainwash girls from other religions, Kallarangat said it was Christian and Hindu girls from the state who were converted and recently sent to terrorist camps in Afghanistan. had gone.
