Kerala film director Liju Krishna accused of rape, arrested

Liju Krishna, director of upcoming Malayalam film Padavettu, was arrested from Kannur in Kerala on Sunday on charges of rape.

“Liju Krishna has been arrested under section 376 of IPC. We cannot give any details of the complainant, but he is not from the film industry. Instead, [she] There is someone who knows him well,” a police officer told NDTV.

The budding film director will be produced before a magistrate in Kochi on Monday, police said.

His film ‘Padvettu’, which stars Malayalam stars Manju Warrier and Nivin Pauly, is expected to release later this year.

According to The News Minute, Sri Krishna was filming Padavettu in his hometown of Kannur when he was arrested.

In another case, Sujeesh PS, a popular tattoo artist from Kochi, was also arrested by the Kerala Police on Sunday on charges of rape, sexual assault and molestation.

A case was registered against him based on complaints from at least 6 women, all of whom were his former clients. He has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

Following the complaint, an 18-year-old girl posted an anonymous post on social media recounting her experience at the artist’s tattoo studio – Inkfected Tattoo Studio, alleging she was raped while the artist injected a needle into her spine. He continued to tattoo her. According to the police, the woman has not lodged a complaint with the police.
