Kerala weather forecast warns of very heavy rain, ‘orange alert’ in 3 districts

The Meteorological Office has issued an ‘Orange Alert’ for very heavy rains for 3 southern districts of Kerala.

Thiruvananthapuram:

The India Meteorological Department or IMD today issued an ‘Orange Alert’ for three southern districts of Kerala. Orange Alert indicates 6 cm to 20 cm of very heavy rainfall.

Very heavy rainfall (12-20 cm in 24 hours) is very likely at isolated places over Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts today (Thursday), an IMD statement said.

Similarly, Kottayam along with Pathanamthitta and Idukki are likely to receive very heavy rainfall on Friday.

Under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over South Tamil Nadu and neighborhood, rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at most places for the next five days, the statement said.

Northeast Monsoon is active over Kerala and in the last 24 hours, it has rained at few places over Kerala and Lakshadweep.
