KGF: Chapter 2 starring South Star Yash is one of the most awaited movies in Indian cinema this year. It released in theaters today (April 14) in Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam. The film which is expected to do wonders at the box office has already broken the record of becoming the first Hindi film to release on more than 4000 screens in the post-pandemic era. As per Box Office India report, “The film is ready for 4400 screens for Hindi version and will have another 100 odd screens in North Karnataka, Nizam/Andhra, Mysore/Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala which distributors don’t have Hindi version. of. This will make it to around 4500 screens, the widest and fifth largest release ever since the pandemic.”
Breaking yet another record, according to trade analysts, the Hindi version of the film has sold tickets worth Rs 20 crore just a day before its release.
According to Ashish Saxena, COO of ticketing website BookMyShow, KGF: Chapter 2 has already crossed 2.
5 million tickets in advance sale. This is followed by another South Indian film, the Tamil film “Beast”, which has crossed 1.8 million ticket sales on the website.
Written and directed by Prashnath Neel, KGF, which stands for Kolar Gold Fields (in Karnataka), is the story of Rocky (Yash), an orphan who rises from poverty and becomes the king of a gold mine. The two-part multilingual film, whose first chapter was released in 2018, became the highest-grossing film of the Kannada industry.
For the second part, the team roped in popular Hindi cinema actors Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon. Actors Prakash Raj, Ishwari Rao, Rao Ramesh have also been new additions to the cast.
