congress president electionCongress leaders are ready to cast their votes for the much-awaited presidential election to be held tomorrow (October 17). The face-off is between Shashi Tharoor and Mallikarjun Kharge, who is rumored to have the support of the Gandhi family. The poll results will be declared on October 19.

Earlier, Digvijay Singh gave his support to Kharge by withdrawing from the race. Earlier, another possible candidate Ashok Gehlot had also pulled out of the election. The last election for the party’s top post was in 2000 when Jitendra Prasad suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Sonia Gandhi.

Here are some details for Polling Day:

  1. Voting will start at 10 am and will go on till 4 pm.
  2. Two booths will be set up in Delhi. One at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters and the other at the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) headquarters.
  3. Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Congress Party President Sonia Gandhi and leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra along with members of Congress Working Committee will cast their vote in AICC.
  4. While other members will cast their vote at the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) headquarters.
  5. One polling station will be allotted to 200 voters. There will be 36 polling stations and 67 booths during this period.
  6. Rahul Gandhi and other leaders join Bharat Jodi Yatra Cast your vote at a campsite in Ballari, Karnataka.
  7. Voting will be held in two units of the Congress party in Maharashtra.
  8. These units include the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) and the Mumbai Regional Congress Committee (MRCC).
  9. MPCC members will vote at Tilak Bhawan in Dadar, while other sections will vote at Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan in South Mumbai.
  10. 9,800 delegates will cast their vote across the country.
