Here is a step-by-step recipe of chach wali khichdi for you to try at home.

Step 1 – Heat ghee in a cooker, add cumin, asafoetida and let them splutter.

Step 2 – Add ginger, green chili, tomato, turmeric powder, red chili powder and salt as per taste. Cook till the oil leaves the edge.

Step 3 – Add cauliflower, carrot and peas and fry well.

Step 4 – Add soaked rice, some moong dal and tur dal. Add water as per desired consistency, and pressure cook.

Step 5 – Add a little gram flour to the buttermilk, mix it well and add it to the khichdi and cook again for 5-6 minutes.

Step 6 – Add garam masala powder and chopped coriander leaves. Serve hot with a dollop of ghee.
